This article by Millennial Money shares what you could find and consider buying at most garage sales.

What Jen + Jill have to say:

Keeping an eye out for used mattresses and electronics, as well as kitchen items, clothing, tools, pots, and plants at yard sales are Jill’s favorite finds, as these are things that are costly but needed at home. Jen likes looking into games like board games, sports equipment (especially for upcoming kids’ sports in the fall), and holiday decor, including cards and wrapping paper. There are many affordable and useful items at yard sales, provided they are in good condition and have been properly maintained.

What's the most recent thing you bought at a yard sale?

Jill recently purchased an egg carton for the fridge, a squeegee for cleaning the car, and a curling iron at a yard sale, while Jen bought a leather couch she totally loves.

I’m very new to the FI scene, and I didn’t jump into NSJ because my husband and I were doing Whole 30 in January. However, we did live in the spirit of NSJ and sold a property we held in a rural area. Now we have a nice size chunk of savings in a CIT HYS account! Yay!
