These Small Habits Are Costing You $10,000 a Year – EP 621

Listen on Your Favorite Podcast Player

There’s comfort in the familiarity of our daily routines, but that same familiarity can sometimes hide costs we don’t even notice. In this episode, Jen and Jill share a few simple tweaks that can help you free up more room in your finances. After all, small changes today can add up to hundreds of dollars saved tomorrow.

Most people aren’t broke because of big mistakes, they’re broke because of small habits they repeat every single day.

A Little Less Can Save You a Lot

Everyone talks about making more money, but Jen and Jill believe keeping more of what you already have can be just as powerful. That means cutting takeout in half, reducing grocery waste, spending less on subscriptions and impulse purchases, driving less, buying used, and negotiating bills. None of these changes require a six-figure salary or an extreme lifestyle overhaul.

But a little less here and a little less there can add up to over $10,000 a year in savings. Sometimes the biggest money wins come from cutting back on what doesn’t matter so you can spend more on what does.

Before You Earn More, Fix This

Jen and Jill explore the power of buying secondhand, borrowing instead of buying, and tackling simple DIY projects that can save hundreds or even thousands of dollars each year. From clothing and furniture to home maintenance, gifts, and personal care, there are countless opportunities to lower costs without lowering your quality of life.

A little creativity, a little resourcefulness, and a willingness to try something new can stretch your dollars further than you might think.

What’s one small lifestyle change that took you the longest to stick?

Jill has always wanted to be a one car family for a very long time and now they are! While for Jen, it’s the actual concept of small changes as she’s always been going big or going small.  But now, she realized it’s the small efforts that pay back in the long run.
