A Transformative Guide to Design Your Dream Life: The Book
Jen and Jill unfold the conversations that many women skip leaving them financially vulnerable and not reaching their full potential. Inspired by the book called The 5 Types of Wealth: A Transformative Guide to Design Your Dream Life by Sahil Bloom, they guide us on how to pursue the next category of wealth so that we can design our dream lives.
The Five Levels of Wealth
The way Jen and Jill explained it, is that wealth grows in stages: it begins with survival, where you’re just focused on making ends meet, then there is stability, where your basics are met and you start building community and small savings.
From there, security brings a stronger foundation with emergency funds and mental growth, followed by independence, where you gain the freedom to make lifestyle choices, invest in health, and step back from constant hustle. The final stage is freedom, where your wealth fully sustains your life, giving you true time autonomy to pursue what matters most.
How to Afford the Wealth of a Holistic Lifestyle
It is possible to build a holistic lifestyle, but in reality, it requires financial capital. That’s why Jen and Jill encourage pursuing more income and/or more savings until you reach financial freedom. Acknowledging that there is not one perfect number to determine wealth because of our differences but keeping in mind not to let contentment or gratitude hold you back towards a more well-rounded progress.
Jill also wants to remind you that even with all this, it doesn’t mean you have to break your back to save money or stop enjoying life. You may also experience pushback for wanting more but once you know where you stand and where you can grow, it won’t be as scary to keep moving forward.
What level are you at right now?
Jill was at security a couple months ago, and then she sold their house so now, they’re in independency! While Jen, during her 20s, aggressively invested leading her to also be at a place of independence today.
