Real People Share How They Save Money on Groceries – EP 607

Listen on Your Favorite Podcast Player

If there’s one thing we love more than saving money, it’s food. But it’s also one of the areas where most of us tend to overspend. So instead of listening to influencers and mom blogs telling us what to do, we’re hearing from real people who’ve found their own ways to save on food and Jen and Jill share it all in this episode.

Make do with what you have.

Pre-Grocery Planning Strategy

Jen and Jill share the practical, attainable, and authentic ways real people are saving on groceries. One key strategy they highlight is what happens before you even step into the store. Many people start by checking their pantry, making a list, and planning meals so they only buy what they actually need.

They both love this approach because it opens the door for creativity and helps prevent food waste. Instead of finding a recipe first and then buying all the ingredients, start with what you already have and search for meals you can make from that. It’s a system that works especially well for Jill.

Grocery Saving in Action

Once you’re on the grocery floor and have your game plan, it’s time to be smart about what you pick up. For some shoppers, mornings are the best time to go especially for meat since that’s often when the quality is at its best. Another tip many people overlook is downloading your local store’s app to check deals and discounts ahead of time. It’s a risk you run but Jen loves it.

Overall, the theme is simple: cook at home, bring snacks, and make the most of what you already have. These are the real-life strategies people use and Jen and Jill agree that they work.

What recipe is on repeat right now in your meal plan?

Lots of bowls for Jill so Korean beef and rice bowls or salmon bowls. Bowls for Jen as well and it is made with chicken, rice, cream cheese. Another favorite in the rotation is jalapeño cheddar protein muffins.
