BOOK THAT TRIP! says the influencers who are getting free flights, free hotels, and paid brand deals while the rest of us are left holding the receipt. This episode breaks down the travel hype, the hidden costs behind “dream trips,” and why that vacation everyone’s posting might be a lot less realistic for the rest of us.

Overrated Summer Travel Trends
Summer is the peak aspirational content season. Influencers are posting aesthetic beach days, airport fits, and luxury vacations that make you think, I want that too. But Jen and Jill softly remind us that while life is short, your other goals still matter. A trip isn’t something you need to put on debt or drain your savings for just to feel like you’re keeping up with everyone online.
They also get into why that beautiful viral travel video might be the very reason a destination ends up overrated by the time you arrive, why places like Walt Disney World are starting to feel less magical and more expensive, and how the actual experience of traveling seems to be getting worse.
How Do We Have Fun This Summer?
The hard reality is that we’re paying more money for an experience that might not even live up to what we saw on our algorithm. That’s a lot to spend for a photo on your phone or a reel on Instagram you’ll probably only see again when you’re clearing storage.
If you want a fun summer, Jen and Jill suggest looking back on what happened last summer and think of what actually feels fun for you right now and make a simple plan around that. The definition of a great summer changes so often and it doesn’t have to look like everyone else’s highlight reel to be worth it.
What’s something you’ll never splurge on again while on vacation?
For Jen and Jill, it’s souvenirs but Jill exempts consumables or an ornament.

This book shows you a different approach to what we buy and why. Its not about being "cheap." Is about being smart and using money as a tool to finance what we truly want.
