How to Stick to a Simple Cleaning Schedule
This article by BetterHomes & Gardens teaches us step-by-step instructions for creating a customized house cleaning schedule that we can actually stick to.
- Get ready. Grab a pen and paper or use your phone to jot down your tasks.
- Start by choosing your rooms. Walk through each one and take inventory of the areas. Write down both large and small tasks that catch your eye.
- Identify cleaning tasks. You can search and list all the cleaning tasks you need to perform regularly and black out those that don’t apply.
- Build on Your List. Start with the basics we listed!
- Choose frequency. Sort the tasks by how often they need to be done (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, bi-annually, and annually) to keep things simple.
- Identify your cleaning style. Time to decide how you want to get the tasks done whether all at once, timed sessions, or a room or two each day.
- Practice. As you shift your lifestyle to this routine, this is what will get you to stick to it.
- Stay On Track. Seasonal changes and unexpected events can throw off your routine, but give yourself grace and just reschedule for another day.
- Reevaluate. If you’re falling behind, re-evaluate and make your goals more realistic.
Recipes to A Home Friendly Cleaning Products
This article by spend life happy lists various cleaning products you can keep on hand year-round and use regularly. It’s natural, eco-friendly, and costs so much less.
What Jen + Jill have to say:
For an all-purpose cleaner, mix equal parts white vinegar and water in a spray bottle. You can add lemon peel and essential oils for extra fragrance. Jen suggests adding a teaspoon of detergent to enhance the scent. For a glass cleaner, combine 1 part vinegar to 4 parts water, and add rubbing alcohol to speed up drying time.
For a wood cleaner, just mix olive oil and lemon juice! And for killing bacterias and molds, AVC (Apple Cider Vinegar) is a must have, and if you mix it with baking soda, it can also help polish sinks, faucets, and silverware.
A cleaning product everyone should DIY
ALL OF IT for Jill. For Jen, it’s all-purpose cleaner and she recommends everyone to get a Dremel scrubber.
