2026 Frugality Reset: Fix Your Spending in 30 Days – EP 598

Listen on Your Favorite Podcast Player

If you fumble on your savings, this is your chance to reset and start again. This isn’t a no-buy year nor a deprivation approach. Just a frugality reset you can start today. In this episode, we break down a 5-phase reset to stop overspending, plug budget leaks, reconnect with your goals, and build a frugal system that lasts.

Frugality isn’t about restriction. It’s about alignment.

Biggest Resets That You Can do

Jen and Jill want to start with resetting our awareness with where we might be on autopilot when it comes to spending, reminding us that it’s not that we are bad with money but sometimes things are so automatic that we forget to ask if they’re actually necessary for our savings goals. It also helps to reset how we take control of our environment by creating boundaries that give us more power over our spending.

They also lay out a simple approach to resetting your biggest expenses: housing, food, and transportation. Lastly, it’s important to reset your motivation because we need motivation every day. They emphasize that motivation should push you to take the next right step—not guilt, shame, or endless scrolling.

Give Frugality a Glow Up

Jen and Jill share that they’re not fans of the idea that frugality has become associated with “less,” because in reality, frugality is about defining your “enough” and enjoying it to the fullest. Instead of just taking things away, they encourage adding things that can improve your financial life: something that increases your income lever, strengthens automation, adds friction to lower impulse spending, and includes a little luxury. They emphasize this because they believe frugality without joy isn’t frugality at all.

How are you resetting this year?

Jen took off all the social media apps on her phone and Jill is trimming subscription and getting back on the routine of meal planning.
